European Hapkido Championships

In the splendid town of
Klagenfurt (Austria) have been disputed, the 22 and 23 of May 2009, the
European championships of Hapkido, organized by the I.H.C. (Int ernational
Hapkido Cooperation). There were 4 disciplines: defense by couples,
tablet breakups, long baton and sword. The tension was at the maximum in
a stadium full of
people (Austrian and German, mostly) staying in
absolute silence to respect the athletes of the competition. During the
exhibitions only the footsteps and the hits of the single athletes could
be heard, besides the noise of the numerous photographers present at
such event. The athletes performed in the center of one square,
surrounded by seven jury tables. The score of every exhibition was
communicated directly on two giant notice-boards placed frontally to the
public. The technical level was proper to an European championship, as
numerous high-level athletes fought for positions that were established
by little decimal differences.
