European Hapkido Meeting

In Rome, on the 16th of August 2009, an Hapkido tournament between Italy and Austria was held, organized by “T.B.W.” association. Italian referrer: M° Andrea Vitali. Austrian referrer: M° Mario Teufl.

The team tournament expected three matches to be executed: synchronized form (chosen by the national team), pairs non pre-established defense from knife/stick (pairs and techniques drawn by the jury), board breaking (one with upper limb and one with lower limb, both drawn by the jury).

To the first match, the jury assigned a score according to the precision/fluency of techniques and to artistic value of the team; to the two matches left three scores were assigned: a technical score (not assigned by the jury, but based on the technique's success), a performance score (not assigned by the jury, but based on the technical difficulty), and an artistic score (assigned by the jury).

The competition between these countries, won by Italy, had a demonstrative purpose; in future matches such competition rules will be officially inserted as international championship, named as “International Hapkido Games”.

Before the tournament’s start, both nations showed their technical programs in the seminar, focusing on work-out modality and on “kup” athlete (from white belt to black belt exam) technical-theoretic path.
